Getting Here Shouldn't Be the Hard Part
For a lot of families, transportation is the thing that makes or breaks a day program. A great Tuesday doesn't help much if there's no way to get to it. That's why we run our own door-to-door service instead of leaving families to piece it together.
How It Works
- Door-to-door, both ways. Morning pick-up at home, afternoon drop-off at home, on a consistent route with consistent drivers.
- Wheelchair-accessible. Our vans are equipped with ramps and securement systems, and drivers are trained in passenger assistance and securement.
- Trained drivers who know their riders. Drivers are Stepping Stones staff, not contractors. They are background-checked and CPR/First Aid certified, with driving records reviewed before hire. They know each rider's routine, seat, and morning mood.
- Reasonable ride times. Our Transportation Coordinator plans routes to keep ride times reasonable for every rider.
- Communication. If a van is running late, families get a call or text, not silence at the curb.
Service Area
We currently provide transportation within roughly 15 miles of our Conyers center, covering Rockdale County and nearby parts of DeKalb, Gwinnett, Newton, and Henry counties, including Conyers, Covington, Lithonia, Stonecrest, Snellville, Loganville, and Stockbridge. Live a little outside the area? Call us anyway; routes shift as enrollment changes, and we'll tell you honestly what we can do.
Funding: Stepping Stones Care is an enrolled provider with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). Transportation is typically bundled with day services, and services are funded through Georgia's NOW and COMP Medicaid waivers along with state and federal contracts, service fees, grants, donations, and community partnerships.
